Server install of Creo moved to networrk drive

I installed Creo 2m200 and m220 locally on a Win2008 server, then copied the install folders to a network drive. I modified the parametric.bat file for the new file location.

On the installation server, I can run the network location of Creo2. From my desk, The dos window pops up and disappears with no trail or std.out file being written.

I searched the copied location for references to the server local E:\ drive that it was installed on and did not find any references that needed changed.

 

1. What am I missing? I am pretty sure I have done this before because I have Creo2 M100, M120, M150, M160 and Creo 3 M040  all on the same network drive and they all run on my local computer.

 

2. Why can we not install directly to a network drive? I am sure I used to do this with Wildfire 2, 3 & 4.

KB Notifications

This may be in the wrong place, but I couldn't find a community for topics related to the tech support site.  If it is, Toby Metcalf, please move it.

 

I get email notifications about new or updated KB articles relevent to topics I've chosen.  It seems that frequently these notifications link to articles that were published prematurely.  There is a title, and nothing more.  The title and description match completely but don't adequately describe what the article is about.  Sometimes it even refers to an SPR, but there is no link to the SPR.  It's as if the article was created as a place holder, but there wasn't enough information to complete it yet.

 

Is it possible that these kind of preliminary articles can be made hidden until there's some real information to share?  It's frustrating to click a link to learn more and find that there is no more to learn.

Thermal analysis - travelling heat loads

Hi,

 

I’m Sharan Hallur.

We are exploring Creo Simulate thermal analysis & I have queries regarding travelling heat loads in the training material.  .

 

1. In the heat load dialogue box {applying heat load to the weld}, please help me in understanding the time function 1:  exp(-1*(((s-time)/50)^2)),what is its significance & how you arrived to it!

 

 

 

 

2. I tried to add multiple welds in the same weldment, but all welds are simultaneously starting. How to make the heat loads run one after the other?

Anyone using JD Edwards EnterpriseOne with Windchill

I have some questions that are specific about Windchill integration into JDE. More specifically pushing additional information into JDE, such as PTC_MATERIAL.

 

Short history: My company has been using Windchill now for about 8 years. Our parent company is now pushing out their own Windchill implementation that is directly tied into JDE, was initially deployed with non-fabricated items in mind, and has only been used up to this point by business units that only sell to other business units. All of this has some what tied our hands, and I have no direct contacts that I can get information from on what is/isn't possible in JDE. My impression is our JDE people don't want to change, so our Windchill people are trying to work around it. Also, HQ is in France, so there is a language barrier that complicates things.

 

Anyone with some knowledge on this, I would love to pick your brain a little. I'm not sure how many companies are using JDE and Windchill, but since both are common softwares, I'm hoping to find someone.

 

A few questions I already know I need answered:

  1. Are there limits to what parameters JDE can receive from WC?
  2. Can field lengths JDE be modified? (told 30 characters is max field length)
  3. Being told we can only Promote drawings as promoting models will break link between either Model/WTParts or WTParts/JDE. I have yet to understand which they are referring to. They said it was related to the fact that JDE info can be updated without CAD/Windchill info being updated. I think.

smoothing with movavg creates offset ??

hi all,

i'm using prime 2.  when i smooth some data with the movavg function, the resulting data is offset by the size of the smoothing window.  in fact, even the helpcenter example on using moving average to smooth data shows this resulting offset!  but with no comment.  attached.

 

is this a bug or am i using movavg wrong?

List of all disabled/expired user account

Is There a way to generete a report or a list of all windchill users which have the account disabled or expired?

Does this list be retrived from windchill or from WindchillDS?

 

I try to do a report listing the user "Disabled", but this is not what I need; I need all the user in the LDAP with the account disabled or expired.

Will not pull values from array

Hi, for some odd reason Mathcad 15 is not pulling from the "enx array" despite that array having values in these indicies.  Is it because the derivative? Anyway I can fix this?

Creo 3.0 - Edit Text Functionality in Drawing Mode

Just recently updated to Creo 3.0 from Creo 2.0.  Is there any config option to go back to the Edit Text Functionality use in Creo 2.0 and previous versions?  When you'd double click on your drawing text and the Text Editor Window would pop-up.  I'm not a fan of the new edit on the fly functionality that 3.0 now uses.  I know sometimes there are config options to go back to older version functionality for some commands.

Good morning,

 

I would to ask if there is a way which does not permit  the modification of parameters by 2d data(eg located in the format "&material"), but only by the 3d model directly into parts or assembly.

 

From my point of view it's very dangerous to have the possibility to change the "& material" on drawing without to align in the 3d model parameter.

How to define a variable on MathCad from an Excel.

Hey guys, sorry in advanced if this is an ongoing discussion here, I tried hard to find something similar but I couldn't.

 

My problem is: I already have an mathcad file doing all the calculation i need with the necessary inputs as thickness, width, etc. I would like to be able to change these inputs using values from an excel spreadsheet.

 

I already figured it out how to do using the SetValue function on VBA, but the problem is that once I close the mathcad, this modification is gone. I read somewhere that this kind of manipulation is only possible changing the XML file, is that correct? Do you guys know if there is a different and simple solution for the MathCad 15?

Designated Attribute issue

I tried to designate some creo paramerets to windchill as product wise. I created CAD Document sub types for Product wise and crated all required attributes in Global Attributes in Type and Attribute Manager.

 

After that when i try to upload to Windchill its giving warning like

Incoming Attributes XXXXXXXX ignored as they not part of type definition.

 

But i didn't change any preference for Upload in Preference Management.

Now am into the Migration process because of this issue am struggling.

How to use different text color / highlight to represent different conditions

Hi all, I have a simple example attached regarding my question. If I have a variable, which depends on the input condition. Can I set the text color or highlight of the output, to represent different input conditions? In this example, if my output displays "RIGHT", I want to set it to green; likewise, if the output is "WRONG", I want to set the text to red. Would anyone teach me how to do it? Thank you!

I found an (old) pdf file on the web that uses a 4 parameter logistic fit for immunoassay. Unfortunately I must be overlooking something as it does not work in MC15. Are there more elegant ways to do this 4 parameter logistic fit?

How to install Mathcad prime 2.0 libraries ?

Hi..

 

As when i used Mathcad 15 there is separate mathcad libraries for Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil etc are available.

But i am not able to get it in Prime 2.0 so please can you suggest how to install libraries.

a loop creating a matrix with 2 columns

Hi,

I am trying to write a simple command to create a matrix with two columns one of which would display a value of the governing shear force and the other with text (as in the screen below). When I loop it, the result is not what I intended. I would be grateful if someone could indicate what is wrong.

Two cables, both with cross sectional area 5 mm2, are connected in parallel across a common DC voltage of E = 36 V.

The resistivity of Cable 1 is ρ = 17 x 10-9Ω.m at 20 °C, while the resistivity of Cable 2 is ρ = 28 x 10-9Ω.m at 20 °C.

Cable 1 is 1641 mm in length.

If 44.9 % of the current passes through Cable 1, determine the length of Cable 2.

Assume the ambient temperature is 20°C.

How to filter for pipe component in repeat region BOM table ?

Hi..

 

I am having a piping assembly, in that we used some other parts rather than pipe component and want to place repeat region bom table without pipe component.

My BOM table should be come without fabricated pipe part.
